Client: Olex Cables/Transpower

New Zealand

Daly’s Constructions completed this project for Olex Cables/Transpower in New Zealand. The project involved the cable installation activities associated with the undergrounding of three existing 110kV circuits through the new estate. The approximate route length was 2.6km and involved a double circuit and single circuit. The routes consisted of four sections – three of which were direct buried and one was in previously laid conduits. Each circuit also required an optic fibre cable to be blown through a 20mm PE sub-duct.

Specialist cable hauling equipment and personnel were mobilised to undertake the project. An early major focus was the establishing of numerous subcontracts with suppliers and engaging the use of local labour to compliment our experienced work crews. The working environment varied from open paddock to subdivision under construction to completed and occupied subdivision.

PE cable/phase spacers was an example of the innovations required on this project. The project was completed ahead of schedule, within budget with zero OH&S incidents.
